BDB Sponsors Andy Reid’s new mega-Challenge

In 2009 Corporal Andy Reid of the Yorkshire Regiment (formerly the Duke of Wellington’s Regiment) lost 3 limbs in an IED incident in Helmand province, Afghanistan.

Since then, this most inspirational of men has achieved an incredible amount, things that his young son, William, will be incredibly proud of when he is old enough to take in the enormity of his dad’s endeavours. He has parachuted, abseiled, cycled, run, in a huge variety of events. He is also an accomplished motivational speaker.
Starting on the 16th June 2017 Andy is about to take on a challenge that will see him cycling 500 miles and canoeing 100 miles on the Devises to Westminster course on the Thames. Alongside him the Ultra6 record holders will attempt 14 marathons with Andy.

You can see details of the event here. Please do have a look at the short video.
Andrew Brook-Dobson will be involved in some of the kayak training and Tim Brear (a former ‘Duke’ like Andy who was previously persuaded to parachute with him) is going to run alongside some of his cycle training in the New Year.
We are very happy to support Andy and the great causes that he is raising money for. We see this as an opportunity to raise awareness. If you or your business feel able to sponsor Andy in the Balfour Beatty Challenge there are some great corporate packages available. It is likely to receive some high profile press attention. HRH Prince Charles has just asked for a signed copy of Andy’s book – he is known in high places! Good luck Reidy!
