BDB Clay Shoot Day 2017
We had brilliant fun last week at our annual clay shooting day which was held at Thimbleby Shooting Ground, located in the beautiful North Yorkshire Moors.
There was a great mix of novice and experienced shooters who all tucked in to bacon butties on arrival. A perfect way to prepare for the challenge ahead.
Our teams were each led by Thimbleby’s excellent team of instructors who showed great patience with the novices yet still had some expertise and coaching tips to pass on to our more experienced guns. It was pleasing to see how everyone improved as they made their way around each of the stands.
Once the teams had completed the first part of the day, we all came together for a competitive flush where I was press-ganged into having a try with no little success I might add! This was definitely the most exciting part of the day working in new teams to see how many of the fifty clays we could bag.
The day was finished off nicely with champagne and a delightful two course lunch at the spectacular Thimbleby Hall. Yorkshire themed hampers were presented to the best novice and experienced shot. Given the performance of our best novice I suspect he may be promoted next year!
Everyone had a lovely time and the damp conditions just added to the authenticity of a classic Yorkshire day out! A big thankyou to all who attended and the excellent team at Thimbleby who put on a great day. We look forward to seeing you again for more noisy fun next year!
