Andrew Brook-Dobson

Following two years of post-graduate research at Cambridge University, Andrew started his financial services career in 1992 with Acuma, the fee-charging financial planning subsidiary of American Express. He left to become an Independent Financial Adviser based in central London and in 1995 was head-hunted by John Charcol Ltd to set up and run its Cambridge office. Four years later, the desire to run his own business was overwhelming. Having successfully established and managed referral relationships with professional firms, this business was bought by one of the country’s leading commercial general insurance brokers, giving it a financial planning division.

During this time, Andrew built up a considerable amount of experience; his technical expertise is demonstrated by being a Fellow of the Personal Finance Society - one of only 236 in the UK - which meant he automatically become eligible for the new Chartered Financial Planning accreditation awarded by the Chartered Institute of Insurers. He also holds the international accreditation of Certified Financial Planner and has done for some time. There are very few people in the country with both Chartered and Certified status and this places Andrew in an exclusive “club” of advisers. Andrew also holds the AFPC, having passed eleven of the advanced exams.

Following a decision to relocate his family to the North for “quality of life” considerations early in 2004, he joined Pantheon Financial Management where he met and worked alongside Tim Brear.

Andrew specialises in providing holistic financial planning advice to private clients. Recent projects include:- investment portfolio construction (for individuals, trusts and pensions), business exit planning for owner/managed businesses, inheritance tax planning, income tax planning for high-earners and expert witness work in Ancillary Relief (divorce) proceedings.
